- 12:00pm to 5:00pm
- DCU Center, Worcester
YOU DO NOT NEED ACCA MANUALS OR SOFTWARE FOR THIS COURSE!
Required by code. Taught in one afternoon.
Don’t learn the hard way: decades of mistakes, wrong advice from uninformed competitors, or reading design manuals in your off time!
Required by the International (IRC/IECC/IMC) & New England State Building Codes, ACCA Residential System Design is a simple, time-tested, and peer-reviewed process to meet the comfort needs of every residential building.
In just four hours, you will be more confident in the Manual D residential duct design process & duct diagnostics.
What you’ll learn
No More Rules of Thumb!
Learn how to calculate the Friction Rate for your job (not all jobs are .10”), including basics like static pressure & total equivalent length, before diving into sizing duct runs and trunks.
Static pressure & equivalent length
The program kicks off with the fundamentals of available static pressure and total equivalent length – concepts I’ve seen trip up even seasoned pros – before diving into hands-on exercises with duct calculators and friction loss worksheets that give techs the practical tools they need in the field.
Rigid & flex duct, trunks & velocity
Working through real-world scenarios and actual system designs, participants learn the crucial rules of both rigid and flexible duct design – trust me, I’ve seen enough sagging flex duct in crawl spaces to know why this matters – while getting valuable practice with trunk sizing and velocity calculations.
Efficient, quiet systems
The course wraps up by tackling best practices for energy-efficient, whisper-quiet duct systems, with plenty of time for participants to share their own field experiences and get answers to those tricky design questions that keep coming up on their jobs.
